Back to school on Wednesday, Gaelscoil de hÍde was abuzz with excitement as the school also celebrated its 40th anniversary in Fermoy town.
Welcoming new and returning pupils, principal Tomás Ó Sé was on hand to bid all a ‘maidin mhaith’ as many gathered for photos with the balloon arch, signs and of course a cake, in celebration of the 40 year anniversary.
In 1984, the first Gaelscoil opened in Fermoy town under the tutelage of principal Sean MacGearailt and has seen a long journey and two different locations across that time.
