Since its establishment in 2016, Athula Food Limited, the operator of the renowned Albatross Restaurant at Fermoy Golf Club, has been carving a name for itself in Irelands food manufacturing and catering industry.

Founded by Mr Athula Kuruppu Achchige, a Sri Lankan-born Irish professional chef with over 32 years of international culinary experience, the family-owned company has quickly become a trusted brand blending global flavours with Irish hospitality.

Mr Kuruppu’s career is a story of passion, perseverance, and talent. From his beginnings as a trainee chef in international star-class hotels, he rose through the ranks to become an executive chef, earning multiple international awards along the way.

His journey eventually brought him to Ireland, where he set out to share his expertise by developing a range of curry and peri peri sauces infused with European tastes. The sauces were an instant success, landing on the shelves of the SuperValu supermarket chain across the country.

Building on this momentum, Athula Food expanded into the restaurant and catering business, opening ‘Kottu Joint’, a Sri Lankan Street Food Restaurant in Cork City and ‘Albatross Restaurant’ at Fermoy Golf Club.

Both restaurants are renowned for their inviting menus, attentive staff, and unique dining experiences.

‘SUCCESS LIES IN TEAMWORK’

Mr Kuruppu’s philosophy has always been clear: success lies in teamwork. His handpicked team of professional chefs, restaurant managers, bar staff, and waiters share his vision and bring excellence to every dish and service.

One of the standout features of the Albatross Restaurant is their themed dining experiences, where guests are transported across continents without leaving Ireland.

Continental Nights, Mediterranean Nights, Asian Nights, and other cultural culinary showcases allow diners to explore authentic global cuisines in a welcoming local setting.

Athula Food Limited is set to take these experiences to new heights this month with the launch of ‘The Albatross World Tour’ – a series of international theme nights designed to celebrate world flavours under one roof.

The initiative has already earned glowing praise, including from the chairperson of Fermoy Golf Club, Helen Arnold, who commended the Albatross team for consistently delivering outstanding cuisine to members and guests alike.

“The new food offering at the Golf Club has delighted members and visitors over the Summer. We were lucky enough to host several inter club events this year, and all who attended were expertly catered for by Athula and his team. We are delighted to welcome non-members to our beautiful glass fronted club house with stunning views of the countryside.

“Over the past 12 months we have worked with Athula and his team to create a welcoming setting for beautiful food and drink and cant wait to share with the wider community,” Ms Arnold said

EVERYONE WELCOME

Albatross Restaurant is open to members and non-members of Fermoy Golf Club, with all bookings and walk-ins welcome to dine at the exquisite location.

In addition to exceptional dining, members of Fermoy Golf Club enjoy exclusive loyalty discounts, not only at the Fermoy location but also at the Cork City restaurant and during theme nights.

These benefits extend beyond the restaurants to Athula Foods catering services, which are increasingly sought-after for weddings, parties, and private events.

Speaking about the upcoming World Tour, Mr Kuruppu highlighted his vision: “Food is not just about taste; its about bringing people together and creating experiences. With The Albatross World Tour, we want to give our guests a chance to travel the world through cuisine, right here in Ireland.”

From sauces on supermarket shelves to fine dining and bespoke catering, Athula Food Limited has established itself as a dynamic player in Irelands food scene.

With ‘The Albatross World Tour’, the company is inviting food lovers across the country to join them on a journey of flavour, culture, and unforgettable dining experiences.
