A little over six months since Irish Water and Tipperary County Council marked the official opening of the Burncourt Water Supply Scheme, a mother of two has said she still doesn’t take clean water for granted.
Speaking from her home in Clogheen, Caroline Fogarty said it’s a pleasure to be able to turn on the tap, fill a glass with water and not have to worry when drinking it.
“For years the quality of water was terrible, especially after heavy rainfall,” she told The Avondhu. “At times I’d have to bring our clothes to my parents house to wash them because the water here would be brown,” Caroline recalls.
