Patrick Flood was the pride of Fermoy when he returned from the recent All-Ireland road bowling championships in Whitechurch with a gold medal.
The talented 11-year-old from Rathcarrig, Fermoy first came to prominence when he captured an U12 county title, aged just 9. Since then, he's made steady progress and with the necessary attitude and a bit of luck, there's no reason why he can't go on to bigger and better things.
A pupil of St Joseph's National School in Fermoy, Patrick receives great support from his parents, Danny and Linda. Danny introduced him to the sport and is now his coach, mentor and official 'marker'. His first cousin, Gary Daly is also a champion bowler.
Patrick's All-Ireland win followed on from a fantastic winning streak that has seen him win, north east, county and Munster titles this year.
When he's not throwing bowls, Patrick can be found hunting rabbits and fishing - this great love of the outdoors has been inspired by his grandfather, Packie Flood. A recent fishing expedition on the River Araglin, yielded a massive rainbow trout! Landing big fish and All-Ireland road bowling titles - it's all happening for Fermoy's Patrick Flood!
