Blame it all on my roots

I need hurling boots

To play in Croke Park to be fair.

It was the forth or fifth show

Then the council said no

Three is the limit for there.

I couldn’t but smile at the look of surprise

When I said its five or no deal

Peter Aiken said…..

“Jaysus I’m dead, Garth are you for real”

(Chorus)

I need friends in

high places

Like the good old days

At the Galway races

When we drank away

We were all ok.

Zoning laws, libel or slander,

were sorted out with a big ‘backhander’

We had all the aces

with friends in high places.

Well I guess I was wrong they don’t like my song,

even though I’ve been here before.

Donie asked me to play in Leitrim

and said he’d give me the ‘door’

I didn’t mean to cause a big scene

Give me my five shows and then,

I can retire to my ivory tower

’till I come back to refill my tin.

(Chorus)

I need friends in high places

Like the good old days

At the Galway races

When we drank away

We were all ok

Zoning laws, libel or slander

Were sorted out with a big ‘backhander’

We had all the aces

with friends in high places.
