Ballyporeen native, Áine O’Mahony, has taken to Canadian waters as she competes alongside the Irish squad in the 2024 World Rowing Championships.
Over the weekend, the Fermoy Rowing Club member participated in her first race alongside Cork woman, Sophia Monahan, in which they just missed out on direct qualification for the semi-finals. Competing in the U23 lightweight women’s double category, the pair finished third in what was a close heat.
Day 2 of the championships, which was set to see Áine and Sophia take on the U23 LW2x Repechage, was due to take place on Monday, August 19, however competition was cancelled due to poor weather conditions.
