It was more a forestry trip than a field trip pupils from Bishop Murphy Primary School were taken on recently when they visited Glenabo woods as part of their Green Schools programme.

Landscape architect Cathal O'Meara of Avondhu Blackwater Partnership and John Mulvihill were on hand to walk the children through the forest, showing them the different layers from the high canopy trees right down to the woodland floor.

As part of the Green Schools programme students hope to receive small trees later in the year to plant out and watch as they grow over the coming years.
