FERMOY U10
Saturday, March 10 was the date and Rockwell College, Co Tipperary was the venue for an extremely busy day for Fermoy Junior Hockey Club players. Our U10s were first out of the starting blocks and fielded 3 teams in a Munster U10 Blitz at 11am.

Though weather conditions were damp in the Fermoy area prior to departure, our spirits were not dampened, with our players playing 4 matches each and some even managing 5 matches!

Weather conditions in Rockwell proved slightly better and Fermoy players rose to the occasion and enjoyed over 2 hours of fun and competitive hockey, goals galore with lots of time for chat and refreshments in between.

This proved a very successful and rewarding day for all involved under the guiding lights of Maria O’Flaherty, Ann Marie O’Connor, Niamh Marsh, Anna McCarthy and Olivia Tanner.

FERMOY U14
Saturday afternoon was the turn of our U14 team to play Clonmel Hockey Club in Rockwell. Though understrength and facing one particularly tough Clonmel team, the Fermoy girls showed remarkable enthusiasm together and worked tirelessly throughout the two fixtures.

Clodagh Guinevan has really developed her goal keeping skills throughout the season, while Libby O’Sullivan and Lauren Armstrong combined very well as a new combination in defence.

Across the midfield, Lily Harte, Niamh Guinevan and Anna Forde anchored the midfield. Their consistent work-rate was second to none and they really drove the Fermoy team on.

Anna Hanrahan was a determined defender and mid-fielder during both matches. Caoimhe Canty did very well up front and her encouragement to all her players ensured that the Fermoy team were gritty, resolute and tenacious throughout.

This was complimented by great running from a very enthusiastic Eabha Nora Gayer who managed to play in all three positions during the two matches. Fermoy were unlucky not to convert some of the short corner chances that came our way.
