Following on from last week’s impromptu business meeting in Mitchelstown where the possibility of tree planting along Lower Cork Street was discussed at length, business people from Upper and Lower Cork Street are now being asked to put together a plan of action for the council.

At the meeting last week, business people were told of a proposal by the council to spend €15,000 from the Town Development Fund on tree planting on Lower Cork Street.

This was largely rejected by the majority of those present with people arguing that trees wouldn’t be maintained, that they would attract dog fouling and would obscure the view of the business signage.
