Human remains uncovered in Kent search

Preparation work to locate the mortal remains of Thomas Kent from the grounds of Cork Prison began on Monday.

Preparation work to locate the mortal remains of Thomas Kent from the grounds of Cork Prison began on Monday. The work will be carried by representatives of the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, in co-operation with the Governor of Cork Prison.

Sean Sherwin, a spokesperson for the family, said: “Archaeologists from this Department will initially prepare the target area for the excavation work and this will proceed throughout this week . . .
