On Wednesday, 29th April, The New Theatre presents ‘The Assassination of Brian Boru’ by Lauren Shannon Jones at Friars’ gate Theatre, Kilmallock.

On this Thursday, 23rd April at 8pm, Friars’ Gate will screen the acclaimed film 'Mr Turner', written and directed by Mike Leigh.

Starring Timothy Spall who won the Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival 2014, the play looks at the last quarter century of the great British painter J M Turner. Tickets €7.

The Assassination of Brian Boru

On Wednesday, 29th April, The New Theatre presents 'The Assassination of Brian Boru' by Lauren Shannon Jones. Two brothers of conflicting ideals sail to Ireland to defeat the High King, Brian Boru. Over the course of the journey they part enemies and meet again on opposite sides of the battlefield.

Brian Boru was assassinated at the battle of Clontarf in 1014. A story of brotherhood, blood, ravens on the battle field and the death of a great king.
