The fifteen participants of the 2012 Ballyhoura Development Furniture Making and Restoration Training Course were recently given their FETAC certificates by Minister Sean Sherlock in the Doneraile Court Tea Rooms. Minister Sherlock launched the course in November 2011 as a local training initiative, with nine FETAC Level 5 modules.

William Hallihan of the Doneraile Development Association said that of the 15 participants, nine of those have gone onto further education, internships or full or part-time employment.

He thanked Ballyhoura and FAS for their input into the course and also the coordinators, Don Colbert and Max Hennessy, as he said that the course would not have been a success without them.

The CEO of Ballyhoura Development, Carmel Fox encouraged the participants to put their new qualification to good use, either in the workplace or with further education and she added that Ballyhoura are committed to developing other projects in the Doneraile area in the future.

The course was initially run because of a desire between the Doneraile Development Association and Ballyhoura Development to support and build on the prominent antique furniture trade, which already exists in Doneraile. A small number of places are still available on the course, for more information, contact Don Colbert on 086 9736941 or the training centre on 022 72782.
