Cork County Council has no responsibility to provide public lighting in a cul-de-sac in Kildorrery, the Fermoy area committee of the county council was told at its monthly meeting on Monday last.
Cllr Noel McCarthy raised the matter, as he had done previously, pointing out that there were a small number of houses on the road and that safety was an issue for residents with the lack of public lighting. He pointed out that the council had upgraded the road there.
“Could we not do something?” he pleaded.
Area engineer Brendan O’Gorman urged caution however in advocating that the council do the work repeating that it was outside their area of responsibility.
