Bord Bia has appointed Cavan native, Joe Moore as its new North America Manager, leading the organisation’s work across the United States, Canada and Mexico – markets that accounted for €2.1 billion in Irish food and drink exports in 2025.

North America is Ireland’s second-largest regional market for food and drink exports, with recent growth being driven primarily by the dairy and drinks sectors. Based at Bord Bia’s New York office, Joe will work with Irish food and drink exporters to strengthen their presence in the region, develop relationships with key customers and identity new commercial opportunities across dairy, meat, beverages, and prepared consumer foods.

Joe moves to New York from Bord Bia’s Tokyo office, where he served as Market Manager for Japan and South Korea since 2019. During his tenure, he supported the development of Irish exports to the region and oversaw Bord Bia’s activity around four Government-led trade missions. Most recently he supported the industry following the opening of the South Korean market to Irish beef.

Over the past seven years, Irish food and drink exports to Japan and South Korea have been worth more than €1.4 billion, spanning dairy products and ingredients, beef, pork, seafood and whiskey.

FURTHER GROWTH

Ciaran Gallagher, Bord Bia’s Regional Global Business Development Manager for Europe and North America, said that Mr Moore has laid ‘a great foundation’ for Irish food and drink companies in Japan and South Korea, from his high-profile work on trade missions to his valued supports to Irish clients around strategic insights, customer connections and promotions.

“We are excited to see him move into this new role, and his wealth of experience will be particularly valuable as we seek to deepen our presence across the United States, Canada and Mexico”.

Joe will take up the role on September 14th, and he succeeds Henry Horkan, who is returning to Ireland to join Bord Bia’s Industry Capability team in Dublin.

“North America is a large and diverse market, and success depends on combining strong market intelligence with sustained customer engagement. I look forward to working with Irish businesses to help them strengthen their position and deliver further growth,” Mr Moore said.

Mr Moore holds a degree in mathematics from Trinity College Dublin. Before joining Bord Bia, he built a diverse career spanning education, interpretation and entrepreneurship. He also founded and scaled J Con, an annual celebration of Japanese culture held at Croke Park.
