No-one seems to know quite what the odds are of it happening but everyone is agreed they're huge. Two popular weekly fundraising lotteries run in Kilworth each week, one organised by Kilworth Celtic Soccer Club, the other by Kilworth GAA Club. Last week, to the amazement of those who sell tickets for both, the same four numbers were drawn out in both club's lottos.

The numbers were 7,8,13 and 17. Club members pondered the odds of it happening. Certainly John Condon and Gus Shanahan who sell tickets for the clubs can't recall it ever happening before. Nor can Tony Dalton of O'Flynn's shop in the village, who also sells the lotto tickets for both clubs.

In any event the numbers didn't prove lucky in either case as there were no winners. The GAA jackpot currently stands at €2,200 while the soccer club's is €3,150.
