Waterford City and County Council improved their collection of rates in 2023, with a 98% collection rate yielding €36 million.
This was attributed to ‘intensive engagement’ with customers and represents 20% of the revenue income for the council.
The comments were made in the 2023 Statutory Audit Report to the council, which was published last week.
The chief executive said the improvement in the collection of rates was a ‘testament to the ongoing diligent work of the staff within this section’.
