Head chef with Ó Crualaoi's in Fermoy, Joe Geoghegan has tasked himself with the job of showing people how to lift their Christmas dinner from the ordinary to the sublime at a special cookery demonstration taking place in Mitchelstown shortly. The Firgrove Hotel is the venue for the event on Friday, November 15th which is being organised by the Parents Council at St Fanahan's College as their main fundraiser of the year.
It's a task Joe is more than equal to and attendees will come away with lots of tips and practical knowledge on how to greatly enhance their Christmas fare.
Joe, ably assisted on the night by Paul O'Neill, plans to really give those attending value for their money by adding in a practical demonstration of the many meals that can be made using the €20 special offer which Ó Crualaoi's operate. The offer allows the purchase of five different products for just €20. Joe and Paul will feature a range of dishes using mince, pork chops and chicken fillets available as part of the offer. Included will be everyday cookery tips.
There'll be a mulled wine reception, tastings of the food cooked on the night and wine tastings all included in the €10 ticket price, representing exceptional value. Tickets are available from Ó Crualaoi's and Farrell's Centra in Mitchelstown or from any member of the St Fanahan's College Parents' Council and the school. At that price they are expected to be in demand so people are advised to get them early.
The organisers are aware that there is a lot of information to take in on the night so they, in conjunction with Ó Crualaoi's, have come up with the excellent idea of a booklet featuring all of the recipes and tips given at the event. The 20-page booklet will be available at the venue and will also be available generally, to anyone who cannot attend or would just like to have the handy guide. It'll be available from next week in Ó Crualaoi's and St Fanahan's and again all proceeds from the book will go to the school.
Ó Crualaoi's Fermoy store manager, Paul O'Neill says they're happy to support St Fanahan's by hosting an event that will be fun and entertaining. "It'll be a good night out," he promises. Chef Pat Geoghegan explained their thinking: "We use local produce, we are a local store and we want to support the local community. School kids are future shoppers," he said.
