Following on from the amazing success of last year’s inaugural event, the organisers of the Motors for Marymount fundraiser are delighted to announce its return this Sunday, 6th October, starting and finishing at The Firgrove Hotel in Mitchelstown.

Organised by Liam O’Donnell and supported by Saint George’s Arts and Heritage Centre, this tractor, vintage car, bike and lorry run raised over €5,500 for Marymount Hospice last year. Organisers are planning and hoping for an even bigger and better event this year.

This vehicle run is ideal for motoring enthusiasts of all vintages and none and under the careful stewardship of Liam O’Donnell and his team of volunteers, the participating cars, motorbikes, tractors, lorries, vans and trucks, will travel a route from The Firgrove, out to Knockanevin, on to Glenahulla and back into Mitchelstown.

In the hopes of attracting an even bigger audience this year, one of the supporting sponsors, Michael Downey of JD Tyres in Mitchelstown, has organised a showcase of high spec, superbly detailed and powerful rally and racing cars which can be ogled over on the day by spectators who may wish to just come along to view the vehicles, both vintage and modern.

This event is going to have huge appeal for vintage run aficionados and all those who want to support this worthy cause. Registration costs €20 for all drivers, this opens at The Firgrove Hotel, Mitchelstown at 10.30am on Sunday, with the run commencing at 1.30pm.

ENORMOUS SUPPORT

Following on from the huge success of their previous Motors for Marymount event and second tractor run, the team at Saint George’s Arts and Heritage Centre Mitchelstown is proud to lend its support to this Marymount Fundraiser. Event organiser, Liam O’Donnell, commented on the generosity of sponsors, participants and the volunteers who made last year’s event a success and are returning to lend a hand this year.

“Marymount would go to the ends of the earth for you, they’ve meant a lot to so many local families, so it’s great to see the continuing support and generosity again this year,” he said.

Not a family in Mitchelstown, let alone Cork, hasn’t been affected by cancer or terminal illness. When it comes to end of life care and palliative support in the hospice or at home, Marymount are the best and always bring enormous comfort and support to people and families at a difficult time. Each year, Marymount needs to raise €3 million through fundraising initiatives in order to sustain this extraordinary level of service provision, that is why every euro raised through Motors for Marymount will go to the hospice.

In recognition of the extraordinary generosity of donors and sponsors, the unbeatable Maurice Walsh will be putting his auctioneering and compering skills to the test, before the drivers set off with an auction of some special prizes donated for the cause.
