A huge crowd turned out to the park in Ballylanders on Saturday night last after Mass for the switching on of the Christmas lights.

To create a bit of an atmosphere around the event, carols rung out across the air, as people sipped on hot chocolate or mulled wine and there were a number of lovely craft items for sale in the marquee as well.

While this is one of the highlights for Christmas for the little ones, it is also a lovely event for the parents as they get to see the excitement and joy in their children's eyes when that all exciting moment of the lights being turned on arrives.

On Sunday the excitement mounted with a fantastic Christmas fete in the park. A very special guest came to make sure that all of the children were being good for their parents in the lead up to Christmas.
