After a memorable year of drifting, all of the hard work paid off for 14-year-old Jack Shanahan from Killavullen as he came home from the Irish Drift Championships awards night with four awards to his name.

The one that stands out most is the one by Omnicoverage for Drifter of the Year, which was by public vote, so it is a real testament to how the public admire what Jack is doing and how much people want him to do well.

At the awards ceremony in Dublin on Saturday night, Jack also took home awards for the rookie class and semi-pro class, as well as an award for 'the most improved driver of 2013'.

Speaking to The Avondhu, John said that it was a brilliant night and everybody was really delighted that Jack did so well. After winning the semi-pro class, Jack will now be driving in the pro class for the 2014 season.
