Over the past month, a select few men from Kildorrery have been letting the razors grow dusty, as they took part in Movember to raise money for Pieta House.

This weekend, on Saturday night, their efforts will culminate with a night of fun and entertainment in Walsh’s Bar.

One of those involved, Eamonn McCarthy, told The Avondhu that there will be a great raffle, music from David John O’Brien and all donations on the night would be much appreciated.

Set up in 2006 by Joan Freeman, Pieta House provides a free, therapeutic approach to people who are in suicidal distress and for those who are self harming. Last year, more than 3,000 people came to Pieta House looking for help and those number are rising all the time.

90% of their income comes from fundraising events like this one in Kildorrery and they rely heavily on the support and encouragement of others to keep their services available for those who may need them.
