Hothouse Flowers frontman Liam Ó Maonlaí plays an intimate solo show in Saint George’s, Mitchelstown on Friday, October 6th. Liam is one of the most talented, charismatic and soulful performers of Irish traditional music today.
Since first bursting onto the scene in the 1980s with hugely popular band Hothouse Flowers, Liam has captured the attention of audiences, critics and musicians alike. According to ‘Rolling Stone Magazine’, Bono noted the ensemble were the “best unsigned band on the planet.”
With a vocal range the envy of many a classically trained vocalist, Liam is also songwriter, multi-instrumentalist (the list continues to grow), artist, painter, dancer – more talent than most folk can even dream of having.
Spanning over three decades, Liam’s career has seen him achieve number one hits in over twenty countries, from playing with Aboriginal musicians in the Australian outback to recording with some of the world’s best-known musicians including Glen Hansard, Marketa Irglova, Carlos Nunes, Donal Lunny, U2 and Van Morrison, to name just a few.
On October 6th you’ll have a rare opportunity to experience the magic of Liam O Maonlaí in concert at Saint George’s (8pm). The show will come after his headline performance at the Healing Spirit Festival in the Cavan Lakelands in September.
The event promises a cosy atmosphere with impressive acoustics and operates a bring your own bottle policy. If you love the best – don’t miss this show!
