While the former FCA Hall in Mitchelstown was acquired over a year ago by Cork County Council, the local authority has not divulged any more details on plans for the building, despite repeated enquiries from The Avondhu.
Since March this year, The Avondhu has made several enquiries to the council about the building, which have gone unanswered. The deeds for the building show that it was acquired by the council on 15th August, 2022.
One year ago the Fermoy Municipal District Officer Pauline Moriarty, who is no longer in that role, announced that the intention was to apply for funding for work on the hall under the 2023 Town and Village Scheme. The closing date for applications to that scheme is November this year.
