St Colman’s student a winner in Poetry Aloud competition

St Colman’s College, Fermoy student, Barry Pierce recently won the senior section of the annual Poetry Aloud all-island competition.

St Colman's College, Fermoy student, Barry Pierce recently won the senior section of the annual Poetry Aloud all-island competition for post-primary school pupils organised by the National Library of Ireland in association with Poetry Ireland.

In all, 31 finalists competed in the day-long event and of the three category winners, Niall Ó hAnnagáin (intermediate), Colaiste Ailigh, Letterkenny, Co Donegal was the overall winner from Barry (senior)and Aoife Fitzgerald, St Michael's Holy Faith Secondary School, Finglas (junior).

Barry received €300 and a book token for his school.
