The inability of South Tipperary motorists to easily access the new National Driver Licence Service office in Clonmel is ‘a gross dereliction of its public service ethos’, according to Deputy Mattie McGrath.

“Even for someone who was born and raised in Clonmel the difficulty in locating and accessing the service is beyond a joke; I cannot imagine the frustration people who have to travel from outside the town are experiencing,” the Independent TD said.

Following several calls for proper signage, he says he is being given ‘vague assurances’ that something will be done, “but when,” he asks?

“The NDLS assumption seems to be that once the information is on a website then that’s the end of the matter in terms of communicating their message. The unfortunate reality for a significant number of elderly motorists however is that they will struggle to access that particular kind of resource.”
