Lismore Courthouse Theatre, on the second floor of the Lismore Heritage Centre, suffered water damage on Thursday last.

The problem occurred when heavy rain got into the building through an unobserved open skylight, dumping water onto the timber flood and stage area.

Luckily the damage wasn’t serious and, while the carpet in the stage area will have to be replaced, the wooden floor is considered salvageable. A dehumidifer has been employed to help and the venue will be ready for use for court this Friday.

The heritage centre underneath, which is being refurbished at present and is closed to the public, wasn’t affected.
