The bunting is up, songs have been composed and rehearsed, on-field preparations and off-field homework has been completed, it’s now down to the final hours as two communities build up to what is the pinnacle in the club game, an All-Ireland final in HQ.
Ballygiblin’s star has shone brightly in their campaign to date and the rural club have left no stone unturned in their quest to bring joy and honour to the parish.
The local national school, through which the majority of the panel have passed on their way to sporting and educational maturity, was abuzz again this week when The Avondhu visited – and who could argue with the pupils summation of their team’s commitment – “Training hard, getting fitter. Sleeping with my hurley and sliotar” – pupils Eva Horgan and Muireann Kiely catchy line probably not too far off the mark gauging what the current talented crop of heroes who wear the red and white, must be going through at present.
It’s a case of one more outing this weekend, in what has been a remarkable and inspiring All-Ireland trail …
