The road surface near Knockadea Community and Sports Club is dangerous for pedestrians and motorists alike and those in the area have called on the council to make improvements.

Seven people from Knockadea were pleading their case at the recent Fermoy Electoral Area Committee meeting and a number of issues were outlined, including the need to get the road widened and to clear water off the road.

Speaking at the meeting, Diarmuid Coffey said that on a bingo night, they would have anywhere between 80 and 100 people and a lot of elderly people would be attending. He stressed the need for the road to be widened, as it is almost like a one-way road at the moment, as motorists have to stop for oncoming cars.

Cllr Frank O'Flynn told his fellow councillors that the community in Knockadea would be vibrant and active, while Cllr Noel McCarthy said that it is like a lot of roads countrywide and he shares their concerns in the interest of health and safety.

Cllr Kevin O'Keeffe told the deputation from Knockadea that a report would be made available at their next meeting and he hoped that it would yield positive results for them.
