From the very first time Kellie Lewis appeared on the television screens at The Voice of Ireland blind auditions, right through the tense and exciting final, people from Kilbehenny and surrounding areas had been shouting for their hero and it's fair to say that she did her village and family proud.

On Friday, May 2nd, a small gathering of family, friends and relatives made their way to Dan Casey's in Kilbehenny to welcome Kellie home after The Voice and it was clear that despite not being crowned as the 2014 Voice of Ireland, Kellie was the true winner for the Limerick village.

It is onwards and upwards for Kellie, as she will now be focussing on her own original music and her mentor from the show, Dolores O'Riordan has vowed to help her out, as she is hoping to release an EP soon.

Kellie and her family would like to thank everyone who made Kellie's journey on The Voice of Ireland possible, particularly the local priest Fr Kelly, everyone from Kilbehenny and surrounding areas who voted each week and everyone who made Kellie's dream to work with Dolores come true.

"We want to thank the Kilbehenny community who gave up many nights and hours working to advertise Kellie by putting up pictures of her in the village and surrounding area and also getting the village covered with colours for Dolores and Kellie’s home visit.

"All the teachers and principals who took time out to allow Kellie to visit their schools and meet all the kids. The local clubs who sent their best wishes to Kellie and advertised her on their Facebook pages and sent weekly messages to their club members.

"All of the local businesses who had sponsored posters of Kellie and who also displayed posters of Kellie on their premises. All of the people who travelled up to Dublin to see Kellie perform on the live shows. We would like to thank everyone that turned out to meet Kellie at the St Patrick's Day parade in both Mitchelstown and Ballylanders and all the people who turned up in Kilbehenny village for the home visit with Kellie and Dolores. We would also sincerely like to thank everyone that had voted for Kellie and sent their best wishes to us.

"Kellie's success would not have been possible without all of these people and we are most grateful to all of them, we would also like to thank The Avondhu for their coverage and Kellie was so grateful for all the coverage she got through social media sites, radio stations and newspapers," Carol Geary said, speaking on behalf of the Lewis family.

While Kellie's journey on The Voice of Ireland came to an end with the final show, it signalled the beginning of her life in the music industry, as the show gave Kellie the platform to promote her own music and she will now have the guiding hand of Dolores at her side, as she makes her way into the music world and Kellie Lewis is a name that we are sure to be hearing for years to come.
