Funding has been secured for a refurbishment of the monument to Ballindangan freedom fighter, Michael Rouse.
Rouse, from the townland of Nutgrove, was heavily involved in the War of Independence along with his brother Patrick.
It was his involvement with the anti-Treaty IRA and Commandant Liam Lynch that saw him killed in a gun battle with Free State troops.
Cllr Deirdre O’Brien has continued her efforts to refurbish and maintain the many monuments across the region dedicated to the people who were involved in the most momentous period in Irish history.
