Buddy, the garda sniffer dog, has taken yet more drugs off North Cork streets as he helped detectives in a seizure of deadly heroin.
On Wednesday evening, gardaí went to a house in the Rivervalley Estate, Mallow and with the help of Buddy were able to locate a quantity of heroin and another unknown substance.
Sources have said the drugs were destined for the immediate North Cork area.
“Heroin is approximately €25 per deal and this quantity would have made 28 separate deals.
“Heroin in a highly addictive drug and dealers trap their victims as they get addicted to the drug – this will greatly help the local community,” a source told The Avondhu.
A garda spokesman confirmed the seizure and said they were further investigating the identity of the drug dealer.
“On 17-06-2020 Mallow District Drugs Unit, assisted by Regional Dog Unit and Mallow Gardaí, carried out a search of a house in Rivervalley Estate, Mallow.
“During the course of the search approximately €700 worth of suspected heroin was seized. A quantity of unknown powder was also seized. The suspected drugs will now be sent for analysis.
“No arrests made but gardaí are following a definite line of enquiry.”
