Stolen car crashed in Upper Glanmire

It was reported on Thursday night that a collision occurred on the R616 running through Upper Glanmire, close to Crowley Engineering.

Responding to The Avondhu, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed the incident and acknowledged that Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of ‘a single car collision in the Upper Glanmire area of Cork on Thursday, 11 June,’ shortly after 11pm.

However, unusually, when Gardaí arrived on site, they found the car abandoned.

Continuing, the Garda spokesperson said: “It is understood that the car involved was recently stolen in the County Meath area.”

Gardaí have proceeded to carry out a full technical and forensic examination on the vehicle, and ‘are following a definite line of enquiry’. Concluding, they added that the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Gardaí at Mayfield.
