Ballyvolane House near Castlelyons has won the 'Field to Fork' award at the 26th annual Hotel & Catering Review Gold Medal Awards.

The award means that the country house uses local or seasonal produce to create confident and contemporary cuisine that reflects a sense of place.

“We’re absolutely delighted, as are all of our staff,” says owner Justin Green. “It’s great that all of the hard work behind the scenes is being recognised. It’s great for our customers to see, and it also reflects very well on our suppliers.”

The awards, judged by a panel of industry experts, were presented in a gala ceremony at the Double Tree Hilton Hotel recently. Judges carried out rigorous inspections of nominees to determine the winner.

Ballyvolane House provides luxury accommodation, food, and salmon fishing on the River Blackwater. Their culinary philosophy includes using only food sourced from their own locality, including the house’s walled garden, farm and river.
