Hearing them praised at Mass was ‘sickening’
A Mitchelstown native says he was left disappointed and saddened by praise that was given to the Christian Brothers of Mitchelstown at a recent Mass in the parish.
On Saturday, October 19, the Presentation Secondary School and CBS Secondary Mitchelstown Leaving Cert classes of 1989 came together for a celebration Mass where, during the prayers of the faithful, praise was afforded the nuns and Christian Brothers for their work during their time teaching in the town.
However, one member of the congregation who was a pupil at CBS during the 1960s, said the thought of heaping any kind of praise on the Christian Brothers was, for him, ‘sickening’.
“They weren’t all bad people but there were a few bad eggs,” the man who is known to The Avondhu, informed us this week.
