The organisers of a top dairy cow contest, the Diageo Baileys Cow Competition, have issued a final call for entries from Co Cork.
Brendan Smyth the Competition Director is encouraging Co Cork breeders to follow in the footsteps of previous breeders and take part.
The final judging takes place on August 21 and cows from all over Ireland are expected to take part.
“Cork has produced many fine cows include some memorable winners down through the years,” said Brendan Smyth.
The competition rewards breeders that combine good conformation in their animals with top milk production capability. It has been running since 1983 with the support of Diageo and its cream supplier Glanbia Ireland.
It is fondly known as the ‘All-Ireland for dairy cows’ due to its ability to attract the top dairy breeders from both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
There is still time to enter and further details can be found online.
