Emergency services are currently at the scene of a blaze outside Mitchelstown this evening, dealing with a situation involving two vehicles.
It is understood that two cars parked nearby to one another, located in a layby/gateway on the old Cork-Dublin road approximately 2 kilometres outside Mitchelstown on the Fermoy side, are at the centre of the emergency.
One car has been completely burnt out and gutted by fire, while the second car is in danger due to its close proximity.
The area in question is close to the 2 roundabouts serving the M8 junction, outside town. Several units of the fire brigade and gardai are on the scene. The fire broke out at approximately 5.50pm.
It is unknown currently if anyone has been injured in the incident.
