Mitchelstown boxer Vladimir Belujsky is training hard this week, as he gets ready to compete in a national boxing competition this weekend.

At the weekend, Vladimir competed in the Munster Intermediate Championships in Southill in Limerick and he won against a much older opponent, Ger Moore from St Francis boxing club in Limerick.

"I won by a first round total knock out. I trained really hard for these championships and thankfully it all paid off," he said.

Vladimir will now be progressing onto the National Intermediate Championships this weekend in the National Stadium in Dublin.

"I'm going to train even harder now," the young boxer said, determined to do well in this weekend's competition.

Vladimir added that he wouldn't be going onto the national competition without the help and support from his family, friends, The Avondhu, Believe2Achieve, Thornhill Opticians and his trainers.
