After 37 years of service, postman Joe Tobin delivered his last letter in Lismore on March 22nd.

Joe, who is one of 15 children, was born in Janeville, Kilwatermoy near Tallow 67 years ago and moved to Lismore when he got married.

A plumber by trade, Joe was always working away at various jobs in his youth, having completed his Group Cert as a teenager in the Technical School in Tallow which is now St Patrick’s Hall.

Then one Monday morning, nearly 40 years ago, good fortune and chance came knocking when the Brien’s, the post office owners in Lismore, were in urgent need of someone to deliver the post.
