From Jackie Onassis and Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, via Vogue editor Anna Wintour to Bob Dylan and our very own Bono, getting a good pair of sunglasses has always been the fastest way to get some movie star glamour and rock ’n’ roll cool.
And now to celebrate the prolonged spell of warmer weather, Oxfam Ireland has launched a summer promotion of new sunglasses for sale in its Cork shop, for the bargain price of €1 each or 3 for €2.
Shop Manager Orla said: “A pair of quality sunglasses with UV protection is a must-have for the summer. Our fantastic deal of 3 for €2 on new shades means you can be beach ready and all set for the festival season, with an extra pair for keeping in the car or perfect for your bag when on your travels.
“We have a variety of modern designs for women, men and even some smaller sizes for the kids too.”
The stylish new sunglasses have been generously donated by a major corporate donor free of charge to Oxfam Ireland, with profits going to support the charity’s work worldwide in emergency response, long-term development and campaigning.
Eleanor Preston, another shop manager continued: “Thanks to this generous donation we are able to raise vital funds for our work worldwide, saving lives in emergencies like the current hunger crisis in countries like Yemen, South Sudan and Ethiopia, helping people build better lives through long-term development work and speaking out on the issues that keep people poor, like discrimination against women and inequality.
“Grabbing a bargain deal on a summer essential accessory like sunglasses feels great – but ensuring a brighter future for families fleeing conflict or trying to lift themselves out of extreme poverty feels even better.”
