Though not unexpected, the death of James Meaney, Flemingstown, Mitchelstown drew a pall of sadness over the entire community when news of his death broke on Thursday last (7th).
The 22 year old died peacefully at home in Flemingstown surrounded by his family, having lost his battle with cancer, a battle he fought with great courage and dignity.
James loved all field sports and was a much valued member of Glanworth GAA and Mitchelstown Rugby Club.
At Glanworth GAA grounds, the national flag flew at half mast, the club having postponed all club activities as a mark of respect to a young player who will be sadly missed by his colleagues and very many friends.
The club's Facebook page described him as ‘an integral part of the club’ which left them with ‘a short but memorable legacy’.’
