Many of us will remember growing up hearing the phrase “do as I say, not as I do.”
I thought about that on Wednesday last as I watched members of An Garda Síochána park up their motorcycles in a regularly used loading bay at Lower Cork Street here in Mitchelstown, oblivious to the inconvenience they would cause shortly afterwards.
As delivery men arrived to distribute their morning goods, they were forced to double park on the street, causing delays and some anger to locals.
Meanwhile, those in charge of the bikes were enjoying some refreshments in a nearby cafe. While nobody would deny them their morning break, one would however, expect our Garda representatives to lead by example
