99 years after his execution in Cork, the remains of Thomas Kent returned to Castlelyons on Friday, September 18th.

99 years after his execution in Cork, the remains of Thomas Kent returned to Castlelyons on Friday, September 18th.

Not as widely recognised as the 1916 leaders who were shot in the aftermath of the 1916 Rising, street names in Castlelyons and Fermoy have helped perpetuate his memory and a voluntary group who are proudly associated with this important Irish patriot, are members of the Fermoy based Thomas Kent Pipe Band.

As an individual who 'waged war against the King', no punishment was going to be too great and the insistence by the British authorities of not allowing family members reclaim his body ...
