150 new jobs announced for Cork at Mater Private

The Mater Private Cork has announced the creation of 150 new jobs, expanding its workforce from 100 to 250 over the next two years.

In the presence of An Taoiseach Mr Enda Kenny TD, the Mater Private Cork on Thursday last, announced the creation of 150 new jobs as it sets about growing its workforce from 100 to 250 over the next two years. The vast majority of the new jobs are post-graduate posts and include doctors, nurses and allied health professionals.

The announcement comes as part of a €70 million investment that has been made in the 75 bed Mater Private Cork which is located at City Gate, Mahon. It is covered by all private health insurers and all patients, irrespective of their cover, are treated in single en-suite rooms, which is a first for Ireland.

The Taoiseach referred to it as 'a significant announcement for the people of Cork and the surrounding region' giving access to 'a wide range of innovative private medical services'.

Chief executive of Mater Private Cork, Anna Fitzgerald, said that since opening in 2013, their objective has been to become the leading private hospital in Munster.

"Our commitment today, to further increase our workforce by 150, is a further manifestation of this objective. At Mater Private Cork we have already invested very heavily to create Ireland’s most modern hospital and to attract to Cork some of Ireland’s leading consultants."
