Mitchelstown young entrepreneurs spread some festive cheer
On Wednesday next, January 15, the LivingHealth Gym in Mitchelstown will be dancing to the beat of giving to others through charity fundraising, as Shona Hanrahan will be running a day of Zumba with all proceeds going to The Irish Cancer Society.
Throughout the day, there will be half hour Zumba sessions and those participating are asked to donate €5 towards The Irish Cancer Society. Shona said that whatever she raises on the day will be of great benefit to the charity.
She has scheduled the sessions for the day, so that those working, doing school runs or in college, should be able to fit in at least one half hour session and support the good cause, while also having fun, burning energy and getting fit.
The first session will start at 7am with sessions also at 7.30am and 8am. There will then be a break before the slots begin again in half hour intervals from 9.30am until 11am. The final sessions will take place, again at half hour intervals between 5pm and 8pm.
All support would be greatly appreciated and this is a fun and novel way of raising funds for The Irish Cancer Society.
Shona has been working as gym manager in LivingHealth Gym for five years now and at the end of this month, she will be saying goodbye to the gym and opening up a new chapter in her life, as she will be emigrating to Italy with her husband.
“In my time here, I’ve gotten to know a lot of people locally and it’s like a family here. I wanted to do something before I finish on January 23 and of late, I’ve unfortunately heard a lot of stories about people who have been affected by cancer in some way, so I just wanted to do something to fundraise,” Shona told The Avondhu.
