Work is at last underway at the Crann Ard site at Pike Road Fermoy where 52 social housing units are due to be developed over the next two years.
Plant machinery was brought on site on Monday evening by Tom McCarthy Plant Hire and workers are now in the process of clearing and levelling the site.
Cork County Council awarded the contract to Micheal M Lyons Building Contractors from Araglin and Mike Lyons said that there will be up to 40 local workers on the site at peak construction time.
