Last Monday, 11-year-old Ava Hegarty from Araglin had 13.5” cut off her hair for the Rapunzel Foundation, a charitable organisation that works to improve the lives of those living with hair loss (alopecia) through fundraising as well as through hair raising.

Hair is raised through the Rapunzel Foundation’s Ponytail campaign, where people commit to growing their hair close to 14 inches or longer with the view to their hair being sent to help make much needed wigs to improve the lives of those living with the hair loss.

Speaking to The Avondhu, Ava’s mum Geraldine thanked Lisa Tobin from The Broadway Hair Salon, Mitchelstown who did such a wonderful job in cutting her hair.

“Ava attends Araglin N.S. and got her inspiration from her wonderful granny, Kay Finn from Araglin, who died of cancer nearly four years ago. She has been growing her hair since.”

Well done to Ava who can expect to receive a cert from The Rapunzel Foundation soon.
