There was disappointment in Mitchelstown this week, as news broke that the Guinness World Record attempt last Hallowe’en had been unsuccessful.
Last Hallowe’en, the Mitchelstown Lion’s Club organised the event which saw more than 480 people gather in the Square dressed as witches and while they had a sufficient number of people to break the record, it is possible that some of the outfits did not meet the required criteria.
Carol Duggan, who was the President of the Lion’s Club at the time, told The Avondhu that they are disappointed, because a lot of people turned up and made a huge effort, but she added that it was a unique and fun event and there was a great atmosphere around the town.
She added that the Lion’s Club would not rule out attempting to break another world record in the future and that the disappointment has not deterred them.
