The Masters, first played in 1934, has seen no Irish golfer claim the Green Jacket in its 91-year history. It remains the only major out of the four not to have a winner from the Emerald Isle. So, will the 89th edition of the Masters in 2025 see this streak come to an end, and could Waterford-born Seamus Power be in the mix at Augusta National?
What Do the Latest Masters Odds Predict?
The latest Masters odds 2025 suggest the wait will continue, although Irish audiences can expect Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy to fly the flag for the region. The Holywood-born golfer is priced at 11/2 to win his maiden Green Jacket and complete the career Grand Slam.
In terms of golfers from the island of Ireland, Shane Lowry is currently the best priced at 33/1, according to recent golf betting odds, while Seamus Power will tee off at 200/1.
Proud to join such elite company with two @THEPLAYERS wins. It’s one of the greatest championships we play. This game has a way of testing you, but there’s no better feeling than getting it done on a stage like this. pic.twitter.com/EQsC1VL1FW

Can Power Defy the Odds?
Power’s outright price suggests that making the cut at Augusta National would be an achievement for the 38-year-old, but the Waterford golfer’s previous two Masters appearances suggest otherwise. Back in 2022, Power enjoyed a successful debut at the Masters, finishing in a tie for 27th. Twelve months later, the Irishman again finished in the top 50, this time ending up in 47th position after 72 holes.
With this in mind, it might be worth backing the world number 117 to be around for the weekend in the latest “to make the cut” market, as he has a 100 percent success rate of doing so. Indeed, while going all the way might be a stretch for the two-time PGA Tour winner, his 2025 Masters experience can still be a positive one.
Lowry’s Masters Chances
While Power’s chances of Masters success might be remote, Lowry, who won the 2007 Irish Close at Cork Golf Club, has a genuine chance of ending the week at the summit of the leaderboard. Promisingly, the 37-year-old’s best finish at the Masters was a tie for third in 2022. Furthermore, Augusta National is a course that the Irishman is not overwhelmed by, having finished inside the top 25 four times in the last five years. In other words, this is a course that suits Lowry’s eye, and the best may still be to come.

The reality is that the Clara-born golfer is one of the most consistent performers on the PGA Tour these days, which is why he is ranked as the 12th best golfer in the world. As a previous major champion, winning the 2019 Open at Royal Portrush, Lowry also knows how to hold his nerve when coming down the stretch.
Answering Ireland’s Call
After nearly a century without winning the Masters, it is surely a matter of when and not if for Irish golfers at Augusta National. Undoubtedly, 2025 presents a decent chance to capture the country’s first Green Jacket. With a rub of the green and some of that famous luck of the Irish, Power or Lowry might finally answer Ireland’s call in Augusta, Georgia.
