One can only wonder what goes on in the minds of the person or persons responsible for setting alight a clothes bin in Glanworth in the early hours of Tuesday morning. We are, we would think, fairly safe in assuming that this was not an accident.

Glanworth, like it's neighbouring villages, need to be protected from this kind of wanton vandalism. It comes in an era when strong emphasis is on having our towns and villages looking neat and clean and the sight of a burnt-out clothes bin does little to further that cause.

Should anyone have any information regarding such anti-social behaviour, please notify the Garda authorities immediately.

Another blight on our streets is the ongoing problem of dog fouling. Mitchelstown is particularly bad at the moment and the lack of regular sweeping is clearly in evidence. It is high time we plucked up the courage to report and shame those who allow their dogs to foul public areas like this.

The recent frosty spell has brought down moss from the rooftops and looks really unsightly - more prevalent at houses and commercial building that are unoccupied.
