PLAYERS AND CUP IN TOWN

There was great excitement in Kilfinane on Monday evening, 15 July, when members of the victorious Limerick team, Munster senior hurling champions, visited McCarthy’s with the cup. Players included team captain, Donal O’Grady, Nickie and Tommie Quaid, Stephen Walsh, Tom Condon, Paudie O’Brien, Wayne McNamara, Gavin O’Mahony, Seamus Hickey, Niall Moran, Shane Dowling, Mark Carmody and Dr Jim Ryan (team doctor) joined Richard McCarthy in an evening of celebration and relaxation.

Many locals, including children were delighted to meet the players and have photographs taken and autographs signed. It was certainly a very good evening for all and the manner in which the players presented themselves won the admiration of all. It is hoped that these players will bring further honours to Limerick.

Meanwhile, on Thursday last, 18 July the young children at the local GAA Cul Camp had three visitors in total. Richard McCarthy and Stephen Walsh attended with the Munster SHC cup. The players met with all the participants for photographs and autographs, while on Friday morning Paudie O’Brien visited the camp and met all the participants which made the week of activity all the more exciting as the children were able to celebrate the hurlers’ success in the Munster final the previous Sunday.
